Supplier onboarding
Simplified supplier onboarding form to increase efficiency and faster onboarding
Context
In the Ariba supplier portal application, suppliers register to their buyer-side applications to access the surveys and qualification questionnaires from them. As part of the Factory onboarding project, our team identified opportunities to improve the supplier side of the experience, which could reduce the overall time taken for the supplier onboarding and pre-assessment.
Problem
Riya is the Sales Manager. Her job is to reach out to potential customers (buyers) and help her company reach its sales goals. She also takes care of the initial onboarding of their company to the buyer-side supplier management (SM) system in order to get verified.
With the new factory information required by the customers (buyers) to complete the registration, now suppliers need to gather that detailed information from each of their subcontractors and factories. This could mean a lot of offline communications, which results in delays in business.
Success criteria
Reduce the overall onboarding time of a supplier to the buyer's supplier management system
Current usability issues
Our UX researcher did thorough usability research on the onboarding forms we currently have on our supplier portal that suppliers use to enter in their information and then submit to the buyer for approval. These forms are customized by the buyers and can very heavy sometimes with too much information.

New designs
Addressing those identified issues I iterated different versions of the UI and finally reviewed it with the product team to align on the SAP design system's Wizard pattern. This gave the questionnaires a more elegant experience while solving the usability issues.
